The Chase Buchanan team is delighted to share the news that we have been officially recognised as an International Professional Partner Firm of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). This accomplishment is part of our ongoing efforts to lead the expatriate wealth management and financial advisory sector forward in terms of standards, trust, and accessibility.

It is fantastic to be the first and only European business within our space to receive this status and to be the single CII wealth management partner that provides international support for expatriates in managing their finances, wealth, tax exposure, and estates.

Applying voluntarily to become an International Professional Partner Firm of the CII, a professional body that operates within the insurance and financial planning sectors, has given us a way to demonstrate our commitment to upholding the highest standards in the profession.

The Meaning of Chartered Insurance Institute International Professional Partner Firm Status

Becoming an International Professional Partner Firm (IPPF) allows Chase Buchanan to publicly showcase our alignment with the CII’s codes of ethics and best practice guidelines. It will also help us to play an even more active role in augmenting trust in financial planning and insurance services.

As one of a select few IPPFs and the only one in our specific field of expertise, we felt that joining the largest professional body in these very relevant sectors was an opportunity for collaboration, working for the benefit of the industry and our clients in maintaining and continuing to evolve professional standards.

Importantly, outcomes are both inward and outward facing, demonstrating that we adhere to a series of core principles in the taxation, wealth management, and financial advice we provide to our clients and in the support and professional development we facilitate for our exceptional colleagues.

Professional development has long been an integral part of the Chase Buchanan approach. It means that each client or family has the confidence that they are speaking with an accredited, regulated consultant, adviser, or specialist who is at the top of their field and fully up to date with all developments and legislative changes within the scope of the service.

The Commitments Included in Our Position as an IPPF

We’ve talked for many years about the value of independent, ethical, and client-centric advisory support and recognise the unique circumstances, priorities, and needs of clients, sometimes with very contrasting goals, tax efficiency challenges, and portfolios. This means our pledge to abide by the three CII principles was an easy decision.

These include the following:

  • An assurance that Chase Buchanan will continue working to build trust and respect within the insurance and financial planning spaces, upholding the CII code of ethics and always working to provide the right services that are in our clients’ interests.
  • Continuing to invest in our teams, colleagues, services and professional advisory assistance, funding ongoing training, developmental activities and educational initiatives that further enhance the quality and capacity of the advice we can offer.
  • Working proactively to communicate and validate the huge importance of working with advisers who hold recognised qualifications, ensuring that advisory clients around the world appreciate why they should only ever entrust their financial welfare to affiliated or accredited providers who are members of organisations such as the CII.

The latter is pertinent, as the expanding communities of expatriates, digital nomads, and families living, working, and studying across borders have contributed to significant spikes in demand for professional financial advisory support, as we’ve spoken about previously.

Widening knowledge about standards, qualifications, regulatory systems, and quality marks, especially in jurisdictions other than an individual’s home country, is a big focus. We share knowledge guides and free resources on this topic regularly to protect members of the public from unethical, exploitative, or simply poor-quality advice.

Putting Clients First: Why Choosing a CII Partner Firm is Beneficial

We never underestimate the importance of the decisions our clients might make based on our recommendations, from managing their pensions and retirement to selecting investment strategies, creating succession plans for their children and purchasing comprehensive health, life and critical illness insurance.

It is also a position of privilege to consult with so many families over the years, helping with major choices when planning for education fees, buying new properties, and relying on our cross-border expertise throughout our teams in Europe, North America and our UK Administration Centre.

The right to use and display the Chartered Insurance Institute badge is an entitlement that tells all our clients and any companies or partners we might work with that our primary goal is unfailingly to look after their interests.

Firms that secure IPPF status have shown that they provide and sustain standards of excellence not just in the qualifications and professional development of their teams but also in their business practices, ethics, and the reliability of the support they offer their customers.

For any expatriate in need of assistance, whether deciding what tax reforms mean to them or making life decisions about their relocations and retirements, support from a chartered wealth management team is highly advisable, with no doubts or reservations that any person they might speak within any of our teams has committed to serving them as best they can.
